Apparently it's something I need to learn. After Mark's interview at the University of Calgary for Med school we have been anxious to see what the future would hold. Once May 14th rolled around we thought the waiting was over but Mark got put on the waitlist!! The next couple weeks were pretty agonizing but I think both Mark and I learned how to be patient and we got to the point where we could be happy while we waited. The hardest part has been living in this small basement. I thought we would be in something bigger and brighter by the time July came. Last week we finally found out that the class was full and we would be staying here in Saskatoon. The sting of rejection was dulled by the excitement of knowing where we were going to be! We started looking at houses right away and that's where the excitement stopped. Finding a house that we would be happy with and that we can afford is pretty impossible! We actually did find something that we were pretty happy with and excited about but I think the landlord was leery that neither of us were working and rented it to someone else. It was pretty sad. So now we are waiting again. Waiting for a house to appear on Kijiji that fits what we need. Waiting to hear when Mark's final exam is so that we can plan our summer vacation (which I desperately need!)
Waiting is hard.
In other news Max and Rani are doing awesome.
A couple weeks ago we decided to give potty training a try. I felt like Max was ready and I sense a rebellious stage just around the corner so I thought we could throw some underwear on him and see where he was at. Well, he caught on quick and we knew we couldn't go back. He's done so well! The whole experience has been so crazy! (Rushing to the bathroom while nursing Rani.) but it's been so exciting! It's crazy how happy it makes me when Max poops in the toilet! It can turn my whole day around!
The same weekend we started potty training (Fathers Day) he decided to touch a hot burner on the stove. He loves to watch us cook and he will often pull a chair up if we won't pick him up. He knows that pots and pans on the stove are hot but we've never really explained that the element is, so when I removed the pot right after it started boiling he reached over and put his hand right on the burner. I saw him do it out of the corner of my eye but I couldn't react fast enough. Before he started screaming though I had him under my arm and was turning on the water. It took both Mark and I to hold him while we ran his hand under cold water. After doing that for a while we gave him some Tylenol and made our first trip to Emerg. It's fine now, but he has to keep it covered to prevent infection which is difficult because whenever he's alone he rips it off.
Rani is smiling!! It's always fun when babies start responding. It makes me more patient when she is fussy.
Mark took his final today for his English class and he'll start his 3rd summer class on Thursday and then it's vacation time!!!
