My Men

Max had been a bit fussy today. Not awful but there definitely wasn't a lot of smiles... until his dad came home. I was sitting on the couch trying to play with him when Mark walked in the door. As soon as he heard the door open he turned his head around to see what was going on and all Mark needed to do was smile at him and he got all excited. This is a regular occurrence. Max loves his dad! And Mark loves Max. It's a relationship that I had anticipated being jealous of when I was pregnant. I'll be honest, I was worried that Mark would love this baby more than he loved me and I was not OK with that! Mark has made extra effort to remind me that I'm number one and I'm very grateful for that but I'm also grateful that Max has a dad that loves him so much! I love my boy and I love my man even more!

Soo handsome!

What a Week!

Last week Max got to meet a lot of new people! His first meeting was on Tuesday and it was a total surprise! The last person I ever thought would be knocking on our door would be Cody but that's exactly what he did Tuesday afternoon. It was soo good to see Cody and be able to actually sit down and catch up. It's been a long time since I've been able to do that. What was even better is finding out that he is doing so good! We were excited to introduce Max to Cody and Max seemed to really enjoy him (though you can't really tell in the picture).
One of the best surprises ever!

After Mark was done class on Thursday we headed back to southern Alberta. The plan was to surprise Uncle Ben. We went straight to the ranch and spent the night there and then headed into town Friday afternoon for a gathering with my family.
Cute Cousins!

That night we headed over to the Drew's. We had set up a video chat date with the family so they were all downstairs sitting in front of the computer when we came up behind them. It was fun to see Ben again and it was really cool to be able to introduce him to Max. He was a little unsure of how to hold Max at first but he warmed up to him quickly! They definitely got along.

While we were in town we also got to catch up with Carly and Ryan and Jaqui and Johnny. Max got to meet Cambree and Jack for the first time. It's so fun that our friends had babies the same time we did.
I wasn't very good at getting pictures that weekend but I did happen to get one of Max and Jack, the rest I stole from sisters:)
How cute are they?!

They're going to be buds!

Elder Drew to Uncle Ben!

Elder Drew served in the Boise Idaho mission (Spanish speaking) for the past two years and a bit and yesterday he got home. We are so proud of him! He was such an incredible missionary that he got a promotion to Uncle Ben! And Max is so excited to meet the amazing man he was named after.
Welcome home Ben!
We love you!

A couple pictures of the month before Ben left. So much has changed!

"I love ya!"

Christmas can't come soon enough!

Tell Me What You Think

People ask me all the time who Max looks like. I really don't know. Most of the time I say Mark because I really just don't see any of me in him so you tell me what you think...

M&M&M

You all know I love a good surprise, well this weekend I got a fantastic surprise!
Look who showed up unexpectedly!
Mark knew they were coming and the thought had actually crossed my mind that it would be awesome if they came, but I wasn't actually thinking they would, so I was surprised when they showed up. They showed up Thursday night, Friday we went shopping for fabric and when we got home my mother rescued me with some curtains that I was trying to make and getting fairly frustrated with. When Mark got home from school we went to a Mexican restaurant that's close to our house. It started snowing Friday afternoon, so by Saturday we had a pretty good blanket of snow, so we decided to call it a snow day and stay inside. My mother obviously didn't realize that this was supposed to be a vacation for her because she made dinner for us and baked bread, cinnamon buns, breadsticks AND sugar cookies! What a woman! We even played a game of pictionary which was pretty hilarious!
Can you guess what this is?????
A lasagna. Hahaha! Love her.

They left today after sacrament meeting:( Their visit was too short but I'm so glad they made the long trek out here, it was just what I needed. Thanks Mallery and Mom.

In other news...

Guess who's 3 months old!!!

You guessed it! Here's a little bit about Max at 3 months.

  • He weighs 14.9lbs.
  • He is 24.25inches long.
  • He loves his bath!
  • He drools a lot!!
  • He's getting better at finding his hands and loves to suck on his knuckles.
  • He sleeps 8-10 straight hours most nights.
  • He's definitely a morning person.
  • He's laughing and smiling more and more.
  • He hates being on his back. Pretty sure he'll walk before he rolls over.
  • His hair after a bath is curly and once it dries it just kinda sticks up.
  • He loves when Dad comes home from school. He saves most of his smiles for him.
  • He's super ticklish on his ribs on the right side and as soon as we lift his arms to tickle him he anticipates what we're doing and starts to laugh.
  • He has lots of dimples!
  • He's a social butterfly, he doesn't like to be alone.
  • I'm pretty sure he thinks his name is Mr.
  • He'll try to talk back to you with his adorable coos.
Happy 3 months Mr. Max! We sure do love you!

Too Cute to Handle!

Today we had a mini family photo-shoot. I set up the tripod and created a little studio in our dining room. It turned out better than I thought and was pretty fun! Here's a little teaser.
This was definitely the best shot of the day.

Happy Halloween!

Last night was our ward Halloween party. We had a hard time coming up with ideas. We threw around ideas like Archie and Veronica and even amino acids (Mark is in biochemistry right now). We needed a costume that didn't cost anything. Our budget certainly doesn't have room for Halloween costumes. Friday night I remembered Max had been given a football onesie, so we decided to run with that idea.

Yep! I still fit into my cheer uniform!

The cutest football you ever did see.

Mark was having way too much fun with it!

And here's a few from the party. I got asked many times if I was a cheerleader for BYU.

And this is GusGus (aka Henry) He's the cutest so I'd thought I'd share. His parents dressed up as Cinderella and Prince Charming! It was awesome!
The party was fun and dressing up was fun. I love being able to dress up as a family! It's more work but it's a lot more fun!

Sunday

Sundays are pretty fun! We usually don't do much on Sundays. It's a day of study, relaxing and catching up on quality family time. Mark puts a lot of work into his studies which means we don't see him a whole lot during the week and part of Saturdays. So far he's really enjoying school. He likes his classes and he has some fun professors which make learning easier.
Today was especially needed with the week that we just had. Mark just finished his midterms. He had a paper due Thursday and midterms on Friday night and one Saturday night. I know! How lame is that?! So Max and I saw even less of him this week. I only made dinner twice because all the other nights he got home around 9 or later. As much as I hate spending my nights alone, I'm proud of him for his hard work. His stamina and commitment amazes me and I am so grateful for his dedication! Not only to his school work but also to his family. Although Mark spends lots of time studying he's doing an awesome job making sure Max and I get some attention too. He's the best and I love him to pieces!
Father-son time (which means mom gets a little break!)
Mark got pretty excited when he spread Max's hand out and realized he had a 4 note reach!
"That's half an octave and he's only 2 months old!"
We're starting him young. Mark likes to throw this ball at him. One of these days he'll actually catch it, until then we'll continue to give him credit when it lands close to his hands :)

Just chilling on the couch with Mom.

Fresh out of the bath! Check out that hair! I hope it continues to get curlier!

And here are a few more pictures of Max just incase you haven't seen them yet!

He's usually not this happy in his car seat.
I love this jacket! Green is definitely his color!
2 months old!
